Flint 2009

(below) The following photos were taken on (and near) Saginaw Street on the north end of Flint.

(below) The following photos were taken in the downtown areas of Flint. Included are pics of the historic lighted arches over Saginaw Street, the high-rise office buildings(some not in use) and one of Flint's classic taverns, The Torch.

(below) Further destruction of the Flint East plant off Dort and Davison Rds. It is all now gone.

(below) And this is how the area looks now.

(below) Saginaw Street moving south outside of the downtown area, including pics of the LL-T Men's Club and the Golden Leaf Private Club.

(below) The historic and once magnificent Clark School, established in 1912, now in disrepair and home to squatters...

(below) Various houses, businesses and other structures moving up from Saginaw St. west to Fenton Rd.

As depressing as it often is, I love this blog.

How about some addresses? A lot more work, I'm sure. Maybe just street and cross street.

See you next year.

I think I recognize a donut shop that was (still is?) located on Fenton rd. and right behind it is a halfway house or something that helps out those who aren't in a position to help themselves.

I was only there once. With a buddy of mine right after the implosion of the IMA.

There is a certain beauty in uglyness. Nice pics, PBK...keep those images coming.

Much like a gruesome auto accident, one can't help but look.

(And I recognize, painfully enough, some of those places.)

We need to fix thing up for the home less, where there would be shelter and get on there feet to unjoy life. Instead of all ways taring done this building and that or there just setting there. The money for demilition put for use.

Tina:

problem with leaving the buildings and houses where they are is that those neighborhoods staying there in disrepair is that the city has to pay for the upkeep. Just like in Detroit. By getting rid of neighborhoods, the city can actually save money in the future.

WOW......and this is why i took my wife and 2 young children and left...no ran away from....Flint.
What used to be such a promising city in MI. now looks like an old west ghost town only worse!! And my sister in-law lived right next door to the used to be donut shop on Fenton Rd. When i see these pics i miss what flint used to be but at the same time i thank God for San Antonio!!
